I started recording forest sounds a month ago, guided by the tips here. My first attempt was with summer rain – I placed the microphone under an old beech tree, as recommended, and was amazed at how clearly each drop was heard. I managed to create a calm atmosphere in my living room, which I use in the evening for relaxation. The only challenge was avoiding wind noise, but a simple branch screen solved the problem. Now I look forward to recording the birdsong at dawn.

Review after the first month
I turned to DoubleHelix to learn how to properly set up field recording equipment. I was impressed by the patience with which the microphone orientation relative to the wind and the importance of absolute silence were explained to me. I managed to capture the rustle of beech leaves on a dewy morning – the sound is so fine and textured, exactly what I was looking for for a personal relaxation project. The communication was clear and practical, without vague promises. I recommend it to anyone who wants to start ambient recordings seriously.

Feedback on communication and setup
I returned to DoubleHelix for a second time, this time to explore advanced bird recording techniques. The previous experience helped me understand the basics, but now I wanted to capture the morning bird concert in the forest at the foot of the mountains. The advice received on choosing the location and orienting the microphone towards the tree canopies was essential. I managed to get a clear recording of the blackbird and the chaffinch, without background noise. It is a completely different perspective from my first experience, and I am glad I insisted.
